“During one of their VLive Jimin decided to invite RM so that they could try out making the trending Dalgona coffee. They played fun songs as they started the process even suggesting that fans listen to their song ‘Coffee’. Dalgona coffee requires a lot of muscle strength and they soon found out that it was not such an easy task. Stirring was the hardest part as even Jimin joked that he no longer has the strength to rebel against Jungkook anymore!
Getting the right consistency was the challenge they were having but they ended up succeeding and even adding the whipped coffee in milk. However, judging from the look on RM’s face, he did not like the taste. Their Dalgona making skills even had them appear on the local news. We are proud that they stuck to the process even though it was a tiring process. I have made Dalgona coffee before without a hand beater and I had to rest several times because of the hard work it takes, so props to Jimin and RM for sticking it out.
The world knows BTS as a global sensation, captivating fans with their music, performances, and personalities. However, recently, two members of the group—RM (Kim Namjoon) and Jimin (Park Jimin)—made headlines for something entirely unexpected: their Dalgona candy-making skills. This story, which began as a playful competition in the kitchen, soon found its way onto local news, showcasing not only their creativity but their deep bond and ability to bring joy to their fans in the most unexpected of ways.
The viral trend of Dalgona candy, a traditional Korean snack, swept through social media platforms in early 2020. Originating from the street food culture of South Korea, Dalgona is made by melting sugar and mixing it with baking soda, creating a sweet, crunchy treat. The candy became popular worldwide, especially due to its appearance in the hit Netflix show Squid Game, where contestants must carve shapes out of the thin, brittle candy.
For RM and Jimin, the idea to make Dalgona came during a rare day off from their busy schedules. With their hectic lives, it’s not often that they get the chance to relax and do something light-hearted together. So when Jimin suggested they try making Dalgona candy, RM, ever the curious one, was immediately on board. What started as a simple idea soon turned into something much more entertaining, and little did they know, it would lead to a moment that would capture the hearts of their fans and the attention of the media.
The two idols had never made Dalgona before, so they had to rely on their instincts and some quick internet research. RM, known for his quick thinking and leadership skills, took the reins when it came to preparing the sugar, while Jimin, ever the perfectionist, focused on the delicate art of pressing the melted candy into shape with the mold.
However, things didn’t go exactly as planned. The sugar began to burn, and the candy became too hard, causing Jimin to laugh while playfully scolding RM for not keeping an eye on the pot. RM, with a grin, shrugged off the mishap, claiming that they should just “add a little more sugar” next time. Despite the small setback, both were determined to make it work, their teamwork shining through as they adapted to the situation.
The real fun began when they decided to turn the Dalgona-making process into a friendly competition. RM suggested that they each make their own candy and then compare whose Dalgona looked the best. Jimin eagerly accepted, both of them fully embracing their competitive sides. They worked diligently, trying to perfect the candy and the intricate designs they would carve into it. The tension between the two was palpable as they both focused intently, yet their playful banter never stopped.
Jimin meticulously shaped his Dalgona into the perfect heart, his eyes gleaming with determination. RM, however, decided to go for a star shape—he had the artistic flair to pull it off, but the challenge was in the precision of his carving. The competition was on, and neither was willing to give an inch.
What began as a private competition quickly spiraled into something more after Jimin posted a short video of their Dalgona-making challenge on his social media. Fans, excited to see a more relaxed and playful side of the usually composed idols, quickly shared the video. As the clips spread, local news outlets picked up on the trend, drawn not only by the BTS connection but also by the duo’s charm and relatable mishaps in the kitchen.
The news segment, which first aired on a popular Seoul-based station, showed RM and Jimin in the midst of their Dalgona-making challenge, with a humorous and light-hearted tone. The hosts, equally entertained by the BTS members’ antics, had a lot of fun discussing the origins of the candy and its cultural significance. They shared the video with viewers, commenting on how RM and Jimin’s playful nature had struck a chord with fans of all ages, especially during a time when people were looking for ways to connect and find joy amidst uncertainty.
The news segment quickly gained popularity, with people across South Korea—and eventually the world—tuning in to watch the fun-filled challenge. The idea that two of the biggest stars in the world could be so down-to-earth and willing to laugh at themselves in the kitchen resonated deeply with fans. The sight of RM’s messy hair, Jimin’s focused expression, and their genuine smiles as they struggled to perfect their candy was nothing short of heartwarming.
The clip was shared across social media platforms, making waves not only in the entertainment world but also in the culinary sphere. Many fans, inspired by the video, decided to try their hand at making Dalgona candy themselves. Some shared their own Dalgona creations, and soon enough, “RM and Jimin’s Dalgona Challenge” became a global trend. YouTube tutorials and Instagram reels followed, with fans posting their attempts and tagging the BTS members in hopes of getting their attention.
Despite the playful nature of the challenge, the Dalgona-making moment symbolized something deeper. In a world often filled with pressures, expectations, and the constant hustle of fame, RM and Jimin’s simple, carefree activity reminded fans of the importance of finding joy in the little things. The warmth of the interaction between the two members, their willingness to share an intimate and ordinary moment with the world, was a breath of fresh air for many who admired their authenticity.
For RM, this experience was particularly significant. Known for his introspective nature and often serious demeanor, this moment revealed a different side of him—a side that was open to enjoying life’s small pleasures. Jimin, too, known for his cute and charming persona, showcased his playful side in a way that was both refreshing and endearing.
Months after the viral video, fans still fondly remember the Dalgona-making challenge as one of the most heartwarming moments in BTS’s journey. It was a reminder of the power of creativity, the joy of friendly competition, and the connection that can be forged through simple, shared experiences. The clip still circulates online, often reposted during special moments, like anniversaries or breaks in the group’s schedule.
For RM and Jimin, it was a moment of bonding, a memory they cherish even after their lives return to the fast pace of stardom. They may have been featured on the local news, but the laughter and fun they shared in the kitchen will remain one of the most authentic and genuine memories of their time together—one that continues to bring smiles to the faces of their fans.
In the end, RM and Jimin’s Dalgona-making adventure was a perfect example of how sometimes, the simplest activities can make the most significant impact. Whether it’s in the kitchen or on the stage, BTS’s ability to create meaningful moments—filled with laughter, connection, and love—is what continues to make them shine brightly in the hearts of fans around the world.
