“Whenever BTS goes on stage for any performance, fans are not only looking forward to the songs and absolutely crazy choreography, they are also waiting to see what outfits they will be rocking. BTS is known as a very stylish group that leaves nothing to chance when it comes to their stage outfits. The outfits usually match the themes of the songs and it is usually exciting to watch and a memory you cannot forget quickly. One of the most iconic fashion moment for BTS on stage was when they performed wearing Dior Outfits! it was a totally new vibe that ARMY were completely awed and talked about the look for a long time.
BTS in Dior was, without a doubt, one of the most significant fashion moments of 2019. The iconic K-pop group’s appearance at the 2019 Grammy Awards solidified their position not only in the music industry but also in the global fashion arena. The synergy between BTS and the fashion house Dior was a blend of sophistication, elegance, and groundbreaking cultural influence, representing a moment where music, fashion, and global pop culture collided in a monumental way.
BTS, at the time, was already a global phenomenon. Known for their impressive achievements in the music industry, the group had transcended language barriers and became a cultural force. From their sold-out world tours to chart-topping albums, their influence was undeniable. But it wasn’t just their music that garnered attention; their fashion choices had begun to spark trends worldwide. BTS members, individually and as a group, had already proven themselves to be style icons, with their wardrobe choices ranging from casual streetwear to tailored suits.
However, in 2019, BTS entered the fashion world on a new level with their collaboration with Dior. This partnership was not just another celebrity endorsement; it was a historic collaboration between a luxury fashion house and the biggest boy band in the world.
Kim Jones, the creative director at Dior Homme, had already been a fan of BTS before the collaboration. As a lover of culture and music, he recognized the band’s potential to be a powerful presence in the fashion world. When BTS walked the red carpet in Dior, it wasn’t just about wearing a designer brand—it was about creating a cultural moment. The collaboration between BTS and Dior was about bridging the gap between Western high fashion and K-pop culture, two worlds that had rarely collided before.
BTS’s partnership with Dior represented the changing nature of global fashion and celebrity culture. In previous years, luxury fashion houses had often reserved their high-end collections for traditional Western celebrities and models. However, BTS’s meteoric rise had shown the world that the influence of K-pop and its artists extended far beyond music—it had permeated into the world of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. For Dior, this was not just a marketing strategy but a forward-thinking move that embraced the cultural significance of BTS, tapping into an entirely new demographic of fashion-forward young people across the world.
BTS’s appearance in Dior was more than just a one-time moment—it marked a shift in how fashion houses and the entertainment industry approached collaborations with K-pop stars. The event broke down barriers between two traditionally separate worlds—luxury fashion and K-pop—and demonstrated the global power of the BTS brand. It became a defining moment in fashion history, as it wasn’t just about looking good; it was about making a statement. BTS showed the world that they weren’t just a musical act—they were cultural icons influencing trends and shaping the way people thought about fashion.
The influence of this moment can still be felt today. BTS’s collaboration with Dior was followed by more partnerships between K-pop idols and high-end fashion houses, signifying a new era of global fashion collaborations. K-pop stars, including those in BTS, became more than just faces for advertisements; they became true collaborators in the creative process, with their influence seen in fashion collections, campaigns, and runway shows.

The Dior outfits were custom designed by Kim Jones for Dior after meeting BTS. He designed a series of seven stage looks that were inspired by the utilitarian sportswear of his Pre-Fall 2019 collection for Dior. Jones explained that he loved BTS because they are really great guys and also super into fashion. “Everyone I know is kind of crazy about them” he said The outfits made their debut at the LA leg of BTS ‘LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF Tour’ in May 2019 and were worn during performances at cities including London, Paris and Sao Paolo. The outfits included bomber jackets, cargo pants, shirts from Hajime Sorayama plus accessories like harnesses, saddle bag, buckles from Mathew M. Williams and hardware from Yoon Ahn. Perfect combination for the stage outfits.
