Updated to their performance on the Late Late Show With James Corden (25th November 2020).
When BTS dropped “Dynamite” in August 2020, the world was in a state of uncertainty, confined indoors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But BTS, ever the beacon of light in dark times, brought joy, energy, and a little bit of disco magic with their first full English-language single. “Dynamite” wasn’t just a chart-topping success—it became a global phenomenon. And as fans spent more time indoors, one of the most uplifting ways to feel connected and entertained was by watching BTS perform “Dynamite” on stage.
From the very first performance to their iconic Grammy appearance, each version of “Dynamite” brought something new. Whether it was a change in outfits, set design, choreography tweaks, or that signature BTS charm, these performances were a treat—not just for ARMYs, but for anyone needing a serotonin boost. BTS’s VMA performance was a significant moment. It was the group’s first time performing “Dynamite” on a major U.S. awards stage—and they did it virtually. Standing in front of digitally rendered New York landmarks, BTS wore sleek suits and delivered sharp choreography with glowing confidence. Their synchronized moves, charisma, and smooth vocals proved that even through a screen, they could light it up like Dynamite.
2. NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert
Perhaps one of the most beloved versions of “Dynamite” is their laid-back performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Dressed in comfy retro-style clothing and backed by a live band, BTS brought a fresh, jazzy take to the song. It felt intimate and fun—like watching the boys jam in a cozy cafe. Jungkook’s opening vocals were especially noteworthy here, setting the relaxed mood perfectly.
3. America’s Got Talent 2020
For their AGT performance, BTS transported viewers to a whimsical amusement park. With vibrant lighting, neon signs, and carnival rides, the performance looked like a movie set. Dressed in pastel suits and high-energy smiles, the boys made the atmosphere feel like a dream. It was a visually stunning experience that captured the feel-good nature of the track.
4. BTS Week on The Tonight Show
BTS took over The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for an entire week, gifting fans with multiple performances. One of the standout “Dynamite” stages during this run was filmed inside a roller-skating rink. The retro-themed setting, complete with disco balls and multicolored lights, added to the groovy vibe of the song. Their outfits—a mix of flared pants, pastel shirts, and funky accessories—completed the 70s throwback look. Each night of BTS Week felt like a mini-concert, and “Dynamite” was always the sparkling centerpiece.

The MTV Unplugged set offered something special: a cozy, stripped-back version of “Dynamite.” BTS sang live with a softer instrumental, offering a more emotional interpretation of the upbeat anthem. Dressed in comfy cardigans and warm tones, the boys sang like they were performing in your living room. It was a vulnerable, heartwarming performance that gave the song a new, mellow flavor.

MAMA’s stage included a moving platform and dynamic lighting, while MMA went with a classic big band feel. These shows celebrated the full power of BTS’s stage production, proving again why they’re kings of performance.
9. James Corden’s HomeFest and Late Late Show
During the early days of the pandemic, BTS performed “Dynamite” from Korea for HomeFest, bringing smiles during a tough time. Later, they appeared again on The Late Late Show with another visually stunning performance. Every stage, every outfit, every reimagining of the track showed their desire to connect with fans, no matter the circumstances. They didn’t let closed borders or isolated stages dim their light. If anything, “Dynamite” became even more brilliant with each performance.
In quarantine, we all found ourselves searching for comfort, distraction, and hope. BTS gave us all that and more through their music and their presence. “Dynamite” was a burst of joy when the world needed it most. And binge-watching these performances today? Still as magical, still as healing.
