“BTS ARMYs have been sending heart warming messages to SUGA and now SUGA wants to update them about how he is doing after the surgery. On BTS’ Weverse App, SUGA wrote an update about how he is doing after his shoulder surgery. He apologized for causing many people to worry about him but was thankful as well.
In November 2020, BTS’s SUGA (Min Yoongi) underwent shoulder surgery to address a longstanding injury that had been affecting his daily life and performances. The decision to proceed with surgery came after years of conservative treatments, including rehabilitation and injections, which ultimately proved insufficient. SUGA’s dedication to his craft had led him to endure considerable discomfort, but the persistent pain during routine activities, such as holding a 500 mL can during a commercial shoot, highlighted the necessity for surgical intervention.
Following the procedure, SUGA took to Weverse, a platform connecting artists with their fans, to reassure ARMYs of his well-being. He expressed gratitude for their concern and support, stating that the surgery had gone well and that he was experiencing some pain but felt relieved. He acknowledged his role as a performer and the challenges of taking time off but emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health to continue delivering quality performances in the future.
During his recovery, SUGA adhered to medical advice, engaging in rest and rehabilitation. He occupied his time with music and studying English, though he found the days long without his usual activities. In May 2021, he provided an update, mentioning that his shoulder had improved significantly, attributing his swift recovery to the support and concern of fans. He expressed his intention to focus on exercise-based treatment to regain full functionality.
Throughout this period, SUGA’s transparency and communication with fans exemplified his gratitude and commitment. He acknowledged the emotional impact of his absence on ARMYs and reassured them of his dedication to returning to full health. His journey highlighted the balance between professional obligations and personal well-being, underscoring the importance of health in sustaining a long-term career in the demanding entertainment industry.
SUGA’s experience also shed light on the physical challenges faced by performers, particularly in high-intensity industries like K-pop. The decision to undergo surgery was not taken lightly, reflecting a thoughtful consideration of long-term health and career sustainability. Fans’ unwavering support during this time reinforced the symbiotic relationship between artists and their audience, emphasizing the role of community in the healing and recovery process.
SUGA’s shoulder surgery and subsequent recovery were pivotal moments that showcased his resilience, transparency, and deep appreciation for his fans. The experience served as a reminder of the human aspect behind the artistry, highlighting the importance of health, support, and understanding in the pursuit of excellence.
He revealed that he is still in pain but is relieved that he did the surgery since the situation had continued to deteriorate even with the medication and treatment he had been receiving. Promising to see ARMY again once he recovers, Suga said that he will be away for a while but he will see them soon! We wish him good health on his road to recovery knowing how strong he is, we hope to see him happy again and not in pain or discomfort.

_ Suga

“Hello. This is Suga.
I am sorry and very grateful that the notice has gone out and many people are worried..! Fortunately, the surgery went well. I’m in pain now, but I’m quite relieved. Fortunately, the surgery went well. Since I’m a performer I tried to avoid surgery as much as possible with rehabilitation and injections, but I was afraid that my condition would get worse again and again when I was on stage. So, three of the four hospitals said that it would be better to perform surgery at this level, so I proceeded… (I really gave it a lot of thought..!) That’s why I’m doing it. I’m sorry to the members and ARMY for not being able to work with us for a while. I feel sorry for you too… I’ll be right back. I’ll be right back. It won’t be that long! I’m sorry and thank you again. ARMY!” SUGA
