BTS held their first “BE” promotion without Suga in attendance. Suga is still recovering from his shoulder surgery as had been announced earlier. This conference is a precuser to the release of their album “BE” Album in a few hours.
BTS held a global press conference on November 20, 2020, to mark the release of their highly anticipated album, “BE.” Held in Seoul and streamed online for fans and media worldwide, the conference offered a heartfelt glimpse into the creative journey behind the album, which was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The members shared their thoughts on the production process, the emotions that shaped the album, and their desire to connect with listeners through sincerity and comfort.
“BE” stands out as BTS’s most personal work to date, with all seven members directly involved in every step — from songwriting and concept development to styling and visual direction. During the press conference, RM emphasized that the album was meant to “reflect our honest thoughts and emotions,” especially as they too grappled with sudden changes, isolation, and the loss of live concerts. Jimin, who served as the project manager, spoke about how they wanted the album to feel “warm and healing,” like a letter from BTS to ARMY.
The group also discussed the title track, “Life Goes On,” which addresses the challenges of 2020 with a calm yet hopeful tone. Jungkook, who directed the music video, talked about wanting to show real, relatable moments — the members in their daily lives, resting, thinking, and simply existing together. BTS said they hoped the song would serve as a comfort to anyone who felt lost or uncertain, reminding them that even in hard times, life moves forward.
When asked about their goals with this album, SUGA (who was recovering from shoulder surgery at the time) was not at the conference. The members agreed that while awards and records are meaningful, what truly matters is making a positive impact. As 2020 came to a close, BTS used “BE” to offer solidarity, healing, and a reminder that even amid darkness, there is always a reason to keep going.
