Kim Taehyung, known globally as V of BTS, celebrated his 25th birthday on December 30, 2020, with a series of fan-organized events that underscored his immense popularity and the dedication of his fanbase. Among these, the most notable was a three-minute birthday advertisement displayed on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest building in the world. This event marked V as the first Korean celebrity to receive such an honor, highlighting the global reach and influence of both the artist and his fans.

The Burj Khalifa display was orchestrated by KIMTAEHYUNGBAR, V’s Chinese fan club. They meticulously planned and executed the project, which included a synchronized fountain show set to V’s self-composed song “Winter Bear.” The advertisement illuminated the skyscraper with images of V, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle that captivated viewers worldwide. The cost of such a display is substantial, with a single three-minute advertisement on the Burj Khalifa reportedly starting at around $68,000. KIMTAEHYUNGBAR raised approximately 7 million RMB (around $1 million) in just 80 days to fund this and other birthday projects, demonstrating the fanbase’s commitment and organizational prowess.

In addition to the Burj Khalifa display, fans organized several other projects to celebrate V’s birthday. In South Korea, 13 birthday-themed buses traversed the streets of Seoul and Daegu, each adorned with images representing different eras of V’s career. These buses not only celebrated his birthday but also served as moving tributes to his journey as an artist.

Furthermore, fans in Daegu, V’s hometown, initiated a mural project at Daeseong Elementary School, where V spent part of his childhood. This mural became a significant attraction, drawing visitors and contributing to local tourism.

These fan-led initiatives reflect the deep connection between V and his supporters. The scale and creativity of the projects underscore the impact of V’s artistry and persona on a global audience. Such celebrations not only honor the artist but also foster community and cultural exchange among fans worldwide.

In summary, Kim Taehyung’s 25th birthday in 2020 was marked by unprecedented fan engagement, with the Burj Khalifa advertisement standing as a testament to his international acclaim. The collective efforts of his fans transformed his birthday into a global celebration, highlighting the powerful bond between V and the ARMY.
