
On August 21st BTS released their new single “Dynamite” started off with breaking several records. “Dynamite” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the band’s first number-one single in the United States and making BTS the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100. On Spotify, “Dynamite” debuted with 7.778 million streams, marking the biggest opening-day for a song in 2020. The song charted in the top 10 in 25 different countries and topped the charts in Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, Malaysia, Scotland, Singapore, and South Korea. When the video premiered on 21st August 2020, it garnered over 3 million peak concurrent viewers setting a new all-time record for the biggest music video premiere on the platform.
“Dynamite” became the fastest YouTube video to reach 10 million views, doing so after only 20 minutes of release, and the most viewed YouTube video in the first 24 hours, earning 101.1 million views and setting three new Guinness World Records. The music video is the fastest in YouTube history to cross the 200 million mark, in just four days and twelve hours after release, and the fastest by a music group to surpass 400 million views, doing so on September 26, 35 days after release.
“Dynamite” is a 1970s-influenced disco-pop song with elements of funk, soul and bubblegum pop. In the music video, BTS are seen wearing pastel outfits and even at the end the background lights up with bright pastel colors giving the video fun visuals. The outfits that BTS wore for their “Dynamite” will be auctioned on 31st January to benefit MusiCares.

MusiCares and Julien’s Auctions are hosting a live auction on Jan. 31 at 1:00 p.m. PT. Early bidding has begun and is active online. The BTS ensembles have a pre-auction estimate of $20,000 – $40,000, making it the auction’s top item.


This is not the first time that BTS auctioning their personal items. In January 2020 BTS partook in the Grammy week charity auction event, auctioning off a set of seven microphones used during their Love Yourself World Tour. The lot sold for US$83,000 (the highest of the event) and all proceeds were donated to MusiCares, a non-profit organization that focuses on human service issues directly impacting the health and welfare of the music community.
