On February 27, in his personal surprise broadcast called ‘JK’, Jungkook showed viewers a plastic bottle filled with yellow liquid and said, “It’s good to order Kombucha lemon powder, so I’m eating about 2 packets a day.
BTS’ Jungkook then caused the lemon flavoured kombucha to run out of stock in Korea when he mentioned the product as he chatted with viewers and eating a duck salad that he had shaped into cute a heart shape.
On February 27, 2021, BTS’s Jungkook hosted a surprise VLive session titled “JK,” where he casually sipped on a yellow beverage. When fans inquired about his drink, Jungkook revealed it was lemon-flavored kombucha powder, stating, “It’s good to order Kombucha lemon powder, so I’m eating about 2 packets a day.”
This brief mention had an immediate and profound impact. The brand TEAZEN, which produces the kombucha Jungkook was drinking, experienced a 500% increase in sales within a week. A month’s supply of their product sold out in just three days. The surge wasn’t limited to South Korea. TEAZEN reported their highest export figures ever, with an 800% increase compared to the previous month.
Jungkook’s influence, often dubbed the “Jungkook Effect,” has previously led to similar sell-outs. In 2019, he mentioned using a specific fabric softener, leading to nationwide shortages.
Recognizing the positive impact, TEAZEN expressed gratitude by donating 50 million KRW (~$44,000 USD) to the Miral Welfare Foundation, supporting employment for the disadvantaged.
Jungkook acknowledged his influence, thanking fans for supporting small businesses during challenging times. This event underscores the significant cultural and economic impact artists can have, turning a simple beverage mention into a global phenomenon.

Recently it was reported by various medias that Korean tea brand TEAZEN revealed that their kombucha sales had risen by 500% in the first week of March. This happened almost immediately after Jungkook was seen drinking kombucha in his recently famous blue-haired VLIVE.

Kombucha is a product obtained by adding monosaccharides such as organic sugar cane to brewed teas such as black tea, herbal tea, and green tea. During the fermentation process, sugar and caffeine are largely eliminated and various substances that are beneficial to health are produced.
TEAZEN explained that it is attracting attention as a health drink because it can consume healthy beneficial bacteria along with its refreshing carbonic acid charm.
