
“Filter” is a solo track from BTS’s fourth full-length album, “Map of the Soul: 7”, which was released on February 21st 2020. Jimin is the one who came up with its concept. “I came up with this song ‘Filter’,” he explained, in an interview with Spotify.
“Filters can be the things within a camera application, or social media, but it can also mean people’s perspective or prejudice. I took these various meanings and expressed it into the song of how I want to present myself to the world in many different ways. I think I’ll be able to show a new side of me that’s very different from my previous tracks, “Serendipity” and “Lie”.”
On October 11, during the Map Of The Soul ON:E virtual concert, Jimin performed his song “Filter for the first time ever. And a fancam was made of his performance exceeded 1 million views in merely 8 hours from the time it is posted. It reached 1.6 million views in just 30 hours after it was posted. It is the fastest, the first and only fancam from D1 to reach 1 million views. It is currently at 3.5 million views
The World Digital Song Sales chart ranks the 25 best-selling international digital songs in the United States on a weekly basis. The chart is based on some pattern of consumption analyzing not only the units of song sales but likewise the song streams.
Jimin’s Filter has achieved several records on streaming sites and social sites without any promotion, he has done only one stage performance though virtually, and a music video. Filter has impressively topped iTunes Sales in 91 countries and regions worldwide. It overtook Psy’s record of 86 iTunes number one making Jimin to be the sixth Korean male soloist with most number #1s on iTunes.
