On January sixth, Billboard announced data compiled by MRC Data, formerly known as Nielsen Music, revealing that BTS had achieved something extraordinary. The group owned four of the top ten best-selling digital songs in the United States for the year. This accomplishment not only reinforced their commercial success but also underscored their growing influence and staying power in the highly competitive American music industry.

Topping the list at number one was BTS’s massive summer anthem “Butter,” which sold a staggering one point eight nine million digital copies. This track became a cultural phenomenon upon its release, praised for its catchy melody, smooth choreography, and upbeat energy. It maintained a long-standing presence at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and quickly became one of the most recognizable songs of the year.

Following closely behind was “Permission to Dance,” which secured the third spot with four hundred four thousand digital copies sold. Their earlier all-English track, “Dynamite,” continued to show strong sales in 2021, coming in at number six with three hundred eight thousand copies. Lastly, their powerful collaboration with Coldplay, “My Universe,” ranked at number seven with two hundred eighty-seven thousand copies sold.
