BTS continues to set the standard for global success in the music industry. Their hit single “Butter” has now officially surpassed 3 million in album sales, earning a prestigious triple million certification from South Korea’s Gaon Chart a significant milestone that cements the song’s massive impact both in South Korea and worldwide.

On February 10, Gaon Chart Korea’s national music chart released its latest list of certified albums and singles. “Butter” appeared on the list with a new and impressive recognition, having officially crossed the 3 million sales mark in the album category. This means BTS is now one of the few artists to achieve this level of commercial success with a single release, highlighting their enduring popularity and powerful fanbase.

For context, Gaon certifies albums as Platinum once they reach 250,000 copies sold. Albums that go on to sell 1 million copies or more receive the “Million” certification. To reach Triple Million status, an album must surpass 3 million sales a feat only the biggest artists in the industry can accomplish. With “Butter,” BTS has done exactly that, reinforcing their legendary status in the K-pop and global music scene.

“Butter” was released in May 2021 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. From its catchy chorus and summer-pop energy to its smooth choreography and record-breaking performances, the song was an instant hit. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks, broke multiple streaming records on Spotify and YouTube, and was performed at high-profile events such as the Grammys and American Music Awards, where BTS won Artist of the Year.

Beyond its international acclaim, “Butter” also achieved incredible domestic success. The triple million certification not only proves the group’s continued dominance on Korean charts but also shows how their music bridges cultures and languages. It’s rare for a non-album single to achieve such high album sales, but BTS once again defies expectations.

Fans, affectionately known as ARMY, were instrumental in making this achievement possible. Their passion and support continue to break boundaries, turning each BTS release into a momentous event in pop culture. As BTS continues to grow their legacy, “Butter” remains one of the most iconic singles in their discography and now, officially one of the most commercially successful.
