BIGHIT Music recently thrilled fans with the announcement that BTS would hold another live concert, this time in their home country of Seoul, South Korea. On February 16th, the label revealed that the concert would not only take place in Seoul but would also be broadcast globally in cinemas, with screenings scheduled for March 23rd for most of the world and March 24th for Asia.
While the news was met with excitement by ARMYs around the world, it also sparked significant disappointment especially among African ARMYs. It quickly became clear that Africa was not included in the list of regions where the live cinema broadcasts would take place. This exclusion struck a deep nerve, as fans pointed out that BTS had previously acknowledged African countries such as Egypt and Kenya in their “Permission to Dance” music video, where a board featured names of various countries. This detail made it all the more painful for fans to realize that, despite being recognized symbolically, Africa was not considered for the global concert experience.
In response, African ARMYs took to social media to voice their frustration and sadness. Hashtags like #DONTFORGETAFRICA and “HYBE” began trending as fans rallied to bring attention to the issue. Many expressed that BTS has one of the most diverse and loyal fanbases in the world, and that African fans have consistently supported BTS through streaming, purchasing albums, and spreading BTS’ message of love and unity. The disappointment stems not only from being excluded but also from feeling overlooked despite years of unwavering support.
Currently, BIGHIT Music has stated that the list of participating countries is subject to change, offering a glimmer of hope that Africa might eventually be included. Fans have been encouraged to register for updates through an official link, where it remains possible that more regions could be added as logistical plans are finalized.
African ARMYs remain hopeful that their voices will be heard. Their message is clear they want to celebrate BTS alongside the rest of the world. As BTS continues to champion unity and inclusivity, fans are looking to BIGHIT and HYBE to ensure that no part of their global fanbase is left behind.
