ARMY, the dedicated fandom of BTS, is celebrating a special milestone as it marks its 9th anniversary on July 9, 2022, since being founded by the members themselves back in 2013. To honor and celebrate this incredible journey and their loyal, humongous fanbase, BTS has been sharing heartwarming and personalized messages. In addition, to make this anniversary even more special, BTS has teamed up with Google for a unique and delightful interactive surprise for their fans.
Starting Friday, July 8, 2022, fans can go to Google Search and type in the word “BTS.” Upon doing so, they will unlock a beautiful surprise. On both desktop and mobile, when fans search for BTS, the search results will display a purple balloon icon, symbolizing the love and connection between BTS and their ARMY. This iconic purple color, associated with BTS’ fandom slogan “I Purple You,” holds deep significance, representing the bond and trust between the group and their fans.
To fully experience the surprise, fans can click on the purple heart icon that appears next to the BTS header on the upper left-hand side of the screen. Once they click it, balloons will start floating up from the bottom of the screen. Some of the balloons will have microphones in them, creating an interactive and fun experience. When fans tap on or pop one of these balloons, it will explode with a special graphic animation, accompanied by a unique audio message from each member of BTS. These birthday messages, filled with warmth and gratitude, include the iconic “I Purple You” phrase from the members themselves, further emphasizing the special connection they share with ARMY.
This Google collaboration allows fans to interact with BTS in a playful and creative way, all while feeling the love and appreciation the members have for their fans. The special messages also serve as a reminder of how much ARMY has supported BTS throughout the years, as the group continues to break barriers and redefine what it means to be a global force in music. As ARMY celebrates its 9th anniversary, this sweet and thoughtful gesture from BTS adds another layer of meaning to their already strong bond with their fans. BTS have always spoken highly of their fans, always crediting them and thanking them for their love, loyalty and support. They have always said that ARMYs raised and have grown together with them. And that is where the loyalty of the fans comes from, because the love is mutual. ARMYs give their love and devotion to BTS, and the members in turn give their love and devotion to BTS.
Even RM stated in their FESTA dinner that whenever anyone mentions BTS, ARMY is not left far behind because the two are one. And that is why the phrase “I Purple You” is synonymous with BTS and ARMY relationship, purple means loyalty and the two have the strongest unbreakable loyalty. That is why the fans are protective of BTS, because the know their artists will fight for them and always take their comments, advice, observations seriously.
